Hi there!
I’m Ian Helms, Director of Growth Marketing at Q.Digital—the parent company behind Queerty, LGBTQ Nation, INTO, GayCities, and Outsports. I lead cross-functional initiatives across SEO, paid media, social, email, and content strategy to grow audiences, keep them engaged, and turn casual readers into loyal fans.
I’ve spent over a decade helping brands—from scrappy startups to global B2B SaaS and consumer companies—scale their content, optimize for search, and connect with audiences in meaningful ways. At Q.Digital, that means making sure our LGBTQ+ media brands reach the widest possible community while driving impact for our partners.
Before Q.Digital, I helped lead content marketing at Wpromote, where I built content campaigns that won industry recognition (US Search Awards, Content Marketing Awards, Digiday). I’ve also helped companies like Envoy Global and bswift reimagine their digital storytelling and brand experiences.
Public speaking is a big part of how I give back to the industry—I’ve spoken at three brightonSEO conferences and MeasureFest on topics ranging from inclusive marketing to AI’s impact on SEO. I’ve also been published in multiple editions of Majestic’s SEO in [Year] book series.
I hold a B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication (Strategic Communication & Reporting) and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I also spent three months traveling solo through South America, which taught me as much about communication and adaptability as any classroom.
